Due to COVID-19 we are updating private dance lesson fees. These changes will take place July 6, 2020.
Private dance lessons will be conducted at the University Heights Studio and will be scheduled at a convenient time with the teacher of your choice.
1-hour private in-person dance lesson = $85.00
1-hour private on-line dance lesson (using Zoom) = $60.00
These prices include GST and the cost of the studio rent.

Introduction to Flamenco (for adult Beginners) with Amity Skala – NEW class!
This is a special introductory class (5-week short course) for those with no flamenco experience to sample some basic moves in a supportive class environment.

Studio locations: *Marked classes take place at 2568 Vancouver Street (park and enter off of Fifth Street)
**Marked class takes place at the Dance Victoria Studios (111-2750 Quadra St.) all other classes at University Heights Shopping Centre studio, 3980 Shelbourne St. (Upper level)
Beginner flamenco – Introduction to basic rhythms, dance styles, footwork, posture and movement. It is recommended to take two classes a week for fast progress.
Elementary, Intermediate and Advanced – Study of all forms, including footwork, upper body style, turns, palmas, and choreography
(no choreography in classes labelled “technique”)
Open level classes – Elementary to Advanced level students welcome.
Cante class – Flamenco songs and how they work with the dance.
CAP class – Music immersion with flamenco clapping rhythms for dance, cante & guitar accompaniment.
Castanets – Technique basics and choreography with castanets
Bata de cola – Dancing in a long skirt with a train. Skirts available for rent or sale.
Pre-coaching – Develop skills needed to dance all fiesta pieces as solos during class (tangos, bulerias, fandangos, & sevillanas)
Coaching class (Limited class size)
- Intermediate and Advanced students only
- Focus on preparing solo work for cuadro
- Not available for making up classes
- Due to the limited number of students allowed in each coaching class, the cost is calculated as two hours on the fee schedule
- Pre-requisites: minimum three years flamenco experience, ability to dance all fiesta pieces as solos (tangos, bulerias, fandangos, & sevillanas)
Kids’ & Junior classes – Fun and dance basics. Level 1: 10-12 yr. with no flamenco experience Level 2: Experience required, placement at teachers’ discretion
Performance opportunities may include:
- Festivals/Community events
- In-studio shows
- Year-End performance
- Four post-dated cheques will secure your spot for the year – due upon registration.
- Please post-date cheques for the first day of each term.
- For credit card payments please request a Paypal invoice at the time of registration.
- Beginners classes are not required to provide post-dated cheques and may pay term by term.
Term fee totals per 10-week term
Prices include tax:
$166 / term = 1 class/week
$300 / term = 2 classes/week
$410 / term = 3 classes/week
$499 / term = 4 classes/week
$565 / term = 5 classes/week
$608 / term = 6 classes/week
Kids’ and Junior classes: $159 / term = 1 class/week
Missed classes must be made up within the same term that they were missed in.
Drop-in fee 1-hour $20
Private lesson 1-hour $60
Semi-private 1-hour $35 each for 2 people
Semi-private 1-hour $30 each for 3 people
- $25 fee charged for NSF cheques.
- Please make all cheques payable to Alma de España.
- Term fees are nonrefundable.
